Okanagan College Centre for Excellence in sustainable Building Trades & Renewable Energy Conservation at the Penticton Campus. The building is approximately 70,000 square feet and houses the following: classrooms, trade shops, student pavilion, kinetics, business development space, gymnasium and fitness area.
The building is to be constructed with the latest renewable, sustainable and locally sourced materials and technologies. The project is mandated to meet a minimum of LEED Gold, but the project goals are LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge Certification. To achieve these goals the design will incorporate innovative building elements such as low energy HVAC and electrical systems, hybrid wood/ concrete structural elements and have will have a target of net zero energy consumption when the facility is operational. |
